Faith in Action

We are the official African regional network of the World Council of Churches Ecumenical Water Network (WCC-EWN), guided by the belief that water is a gift from God and a fundamental human right.

Regional Reach

Headquartered in Ibadan, Nigeria, with active programs and partners in Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Togo, and The Gambia.

Blue Community Africa

Proud official Blue Community member since May 2024, promoting public water ownership and encouraging churches and schools to become Blue Communities.

Voices for Water Justice

Leading the “Voices for Water Justice” campaign to amplify community voices and advocate for equitable and sustainable water access across Africa.

Anti-Privatization Stand

We strongly resist the privatization of water services and promote public-public partnerships (PuP) to strengthen public water utilities.

Theological & Practical

We combine theological reflections with practical actions — training, awareness campaigns, policy advocacy, and community engagement for water justice.

One church. One school. One powerful decision

Ecumenical Water Network Africa (EWNA) is a faith-based network committed to water justice across the continent. We believe water is a sacred gift from God and a basic human right that must be accessible to every African — not a privilege for the few or a commodity for profit.

Rooted in the ecumenical movement and guided by the World Council of Churches, we combine faith, advocacy, and action to protect water resources, resist privatization, and promote equitable access for all.

Voices from the Field

Real stories. Real struggles. Real hope — straight from the communities fighting for their God-given right to water.

EWNA has helped us understand that water is not just a resource — it is a sacred gift from God. Since we became a Blue Church, our congregation now actively advocates for clean water in our community. The change in mindset and the practical support we’ve received have been truly transformational.
Tyler Morgan
Church Leader (Pastor)
Thanks to EWNA’s Voices for Water Justice campaign, our community’s cry was finally heard. We now have better access to clean water and the local government is listening to us. I thank God for this network — they gave us hope and a voice. unorthographic life One day however a small line of blind text by the name of Lorem Ipsum decided to leave for the far World of Grammar. EWNA showed us that young people can lead the fight for water justice. Through their training and awareness camps, we learned how to advocate against water privatization. Today, we are proud Blue Youth Ambassadors protecting our future.

Working with EWNA has strengthened our advocacy tremendously. Their faith-based approach combined with strong policy work makes them a unique and powerful voice in the water sector. Together, we are making real progress against water commercialization in Africa.

Becoming a Blue School through EWNA has changed our school entirely. Our students now understand water as a human right and a gift from God. The awareness and training we received have inspired both children and parents to value and protect our water resources.
